Office of the Public Defender - District of Alaska

Our office provides legal representation throughout the State of Alaska to people charged with federal crimes. Alaska - “The Great Land” - has an area of 663,300 square miles. It is larger than the combined area of the 22 smallest U.S. States, and larger than Texas, California, and Montana combined. Served by a team of dedicated attorneys and staff, the Office of the Public Defender works to provide the highest level of support to those needing its services.

In addition to the direct representation of appointed clients in federal trial courts, we provide legal services for clients at the appellate and post-conviction “habeas” levels. Our office also administers the appointment and routine training of Criminal Justice Act panel attorneys in the District of Alaska to provide further support of indigent rights.
